About Us
Our Story: Born from Experience
D1.relocation was born from the realization that while college athletics had professionalized almost every aspect of the department, it had largely ignored the most volatile moment in a professional's life: the move.
The idea was sparked during a transition from the Greater Cincinnati area to Statesboro, Georgia. Meredith Shumate, the wife of an associate head coach, recognized that coaching families were often left to "sink or swim" during urgent moves, whereas the military and corporate sectors provided their families with dedicated relocation advocacy.
Partnering with veteran administrator Daniel Feig, we built the
Director of Relocation Operations (DORO) model to close this "onboarding gap". We act as a single point of contact and a dedicated ally, managing the sanity-testing logistical details that traditionally disrupt a leader's productivity and a family’s well-being. By providing this missing professional infrastructure, we ensure your focus remains where it belongs—on your new role and your family—from day one.
